We marched through March!

March...

  • We went to Harry's 3rd birthday party. Nick loved playing with toys, going on a "dino egg" hunt and watching Harry open his gifts. A great way to spend a Sat morning!
  • We installed Nick's new car seat. His original was a Safety First and we just didn't like the straps on it. It is now in Dan's car and Nick travels in a Britax Marathon seat in my van. I love it!
  • I had dinner with my friend A-M at The Works. Yum! Sure the burger was good but the peanut butter oreo milkshake was amazing!
  • Dan bottled another batch of wine. A tempranillo blend this time. All this new wine is such a tease!
  • The G's came over for snacks and Pandemic. We lost!:(
  • The E's came over for dinner. Dan made yummy ribs! It was great to catch up!
  • March Break brought some mild weather, a random snow storm and some visits and play dates with friends. It was lovely! (A head cold also hit but I tried to not let it slow me down!)
  • I got to go with Nicholas on his first field trip. We went to a horsie farm. Nick liked the bus ride the best of course!
  • Two co-workers left our division this month (sniff, sniff) so we went out for some Pad Thai one night and drinks another night (OJ for me lol).
  • My in-laws came for a weekend. We went to St. Jacob's briefly to buy some meat but it was way too busy and cold!  It was nice for Nicholas to spend time with them! And my father-in-law fixed our squeaky stair :)
  •  I went out for munchies and a drink with my co-worker/pal E. Milestones is a great spot!
  • Vicente's came for lunch. It was so fun to watch Nicholas run (literally) with the older boys. We don't get to visit nearly enough!
  • We went for a yummy brunch at the Ganders. So good to catch up!
Whew! What a busy month. We must be trying to fit in a lot of social time before the baby comes! :)

Is that comfortable Nicholas?

Nick's transition to a big boy bed went quite well. Our main rule is that if he gets out of bed (in the morning ideally) he can play with his toys but he needs to stay in his room. He likes to play in his door way so that he can keep an eye on us. Well the little turkey got out of bed right after we put him in and decided to play for a bit. Well that backfired.

Free Samples

I'm a sucker for free stuff. Dan laughs at me because he knows I will get bugged by companies after signing up for free stuff. But I do it anyways!

Look what I got from P&G:

That coupon is for a free book from shutterfly. I also got a package of kleenex which is in my school bag.

I love free stuff!

Putting the 'Living' in Living Room

Our furniture is here and all set up! We got our new couch less than a week after ordering it but our chairs took a little longer so I waited until everything was in place before snapping a few pictures. We just need a coffee table now...

Throw pillows and curtains from Bouclair

Chairs are Ashley Furniture (Kitchener Home Furniture)

Close up. We had them re-covered as the floor models were burnt orange

Black leather love seat is Ashley Furniture (Kitchener Home Furniture)

Ta da!
The room is looking so much more polished. I love it!

Home made jewelry cleaner

My rings were in need of a cleaning and I found a recipe on Pinterest so I thought I would give it a try.

Instructions:

  • Heat 1 cup of water in the microwave for 1 minute
  • Place tin foil in the base of a bowl
  • Pour water into bowl
  • Mix 1 tbsp of salt, 1 tbsp of baking soda and 1 tbsp of dish soap
  • Place jewelry in mixture and leave for 10 minutes
  • Rinse jewelry with cold water and dry on a clean cloth
It was hard to get good pictures but this worked beautifully! Give it a try!

Happy St. Patty's Day

Shamrocks were made at school today. All you need is a pipe cleaner and three fingers. You loop them around each finger (no pinkie or thumb), slide them off and then twist into a shamrock. My students thought I was a magician! Lol.

What's new in the baby room?

Almost everything in Baby Dill's room was used with Nicholas. So a few little accessories have been added to personalize it a bit for him.

New: Blue laundry basket (Dollarama) and yellow blanket (Mother-in-law)

Blue pillow (Bouclair)
I know it's not much, but it makes me happy to add a few little things. I'm sure there will be more in the next 11 weeks. Eek!

Kitchen Confessions

My friend Heather admitted that she had never made Rice Krispie squares before. Although a little surprised by this, I too have a confession to make.

Today was the first day I ever made pancakes from scratch. We are not big pancake eaters and when we do have them my Mother-in-law is usually the one making them.

Nick has been asking for some banana pancakes all week so today I made them. So easy and they turned out perfect. I envisioned freezing a whole bunch but sadly we only have 5 for the freezer and Nick will devour those this week! I guess I need to do a double batch next time!
