They have been doing a unit all about water and yesterday was their project party. When we arrived, there was a documentation wall with pictures and write ups. Apparently Nicholas likes to fill shoes with water and then pour them out. He also likes to play with wet paper towels. One of his teachers also makes a learning cube for each of the kids.
I was worried that Nicholas would cling to us instead of playing with his friends. Boy was I wrong! He walked over, hugged us, and then went to play in the water with his pals. He would smile at us and wander around taking us on a "tour" of the outdoor space.
I am so impressed that the daycare is run like a school. They follow the interests of the children and take lots of pictures and write anecdotal comments to share with the parents.
I love garage sales. I love finding great finds like this adorable little teapot. It makes one cup of tea. Any tea drinker will agree that a cup of tea from a pot just tastes better.
It cost me a dollar. Here is a photo of my little teapot next to my big mama tea pot. Just to put things into perspective.
On the topic of cute things... check out this adorable lunch bag that Nicholas got for his birthday from his pal Rachel. I think I love owls now.
Yesterday we hosted Nicholas' birthday party and it was a hit! There were 17 adults and 9 kids under the age of 8. We had sunshine, burgers and cupcakes. Nicholas was spoiled with wonderful gifts and got to try his first cupcake. Nick has not always shown a lot of interest in sweets. We had his pal Rachel for lunch the weekend before and Nick wasn't thrilled with the Smore pie that we served. His birthday cupcake was a different story!
I got the idea from my sister-in-law to take a monthly photo of Nick. She helped this out by giving me some picky stickies as a gift. And as you can see from the following photos, I had a lot of fun with this. The monkey was a gift from Dan's co-workers. Without further ado, here are the monkey photos from Month 1 to 12.
Happy Birthday Nicholas! I love you to the moon and back. xo, Meg
