A bowl of water

Nicholas doesn't need much to be entertained. Since the weather has been so nice, I thought I would give him a bowl of water and a paintbrush and see what he decided to do with it.

Grabbing water with my hand is faster than the brush

Water dumped

No surprise there!

Ps: He's sporting the new hat that I picked up for him at Bonnie Togs. I couldn't resist scuba diving monkeys!

April's over?

Spring has arrived!

What did our April look like?

• We enjoyed taking Nick to Soccer Tots. He has really come out of his shell and plays hard and then naps long! We had lunch with Cooper and his parents a few times afterwards.
• We had a few board game nights with friends.
• We met H & R's beautiful new boy! I miss baby snuggles.
• I worked away at my course for work. I am really enjoying it!
• We had a few outdoor/indoor soccer practices.
• Dan built a wine rack for above our cupboards
• We went to our monthly playdate at Cooper's house.
• We had dinner at a friend's place
• We enjoyed the nice weather (when it happened) and got the yard ready for Spring.
• We went to our adorable God Daughter's 1st birthday bash!
• We filed our taxes (I know not exciting)
• We bought a tablet and a Kindle... wow two gadgets in one month!

Season Confusion

The weather has certainly been confusing lately. Is it Spring? Are we going backwards into Winter again? Are we skipping Spring and going right into Summer? Just this past week I sent Nick to daycare 3 different days with 3 different jackets.

I guess Nick is still confused about the weather. Layered clothing for Spring? Check! Summer hat that is a bit too small? Check! Ready for a sled ride? Check!

Making a Silhouette

I'm back at it with a Pinterest craft idea (original Source here). I would consider this one half success and half failure.

I decided to make a silhouette of Nicholas. Getting a picture to use was a challenge but I finally caught one and printed it. I bought the canvas, paint and brushes at Dollarama which is a huge money saver.

The major problem was that I did 3 coats of blue paint and it made the picture stick to the point that paper bits were stuck. I would recommend doing two light coats and then peeling the picture off and doing any necessary touch ups.

I am considering this craft a "look from afar" kinda craft as close up it is not as neat and tidy as I would have liked. I love the cuteness factor of Nick's nose and mouth!

Secret Kitchen Project

The secret kitchen project is...a wine rack for above our cupboards! Not only can we now store some of our wine upstairs, we are utilizing the otherwise useless space! Dan may or may not stain the rack and he is also building another one. Our goal is to have wine going around that whole side of the kitchen!

Ps: Should we stain it? Or leave the natural pine?

Kindergarten Fun

I loved how these turn out so I thought I would share!

We looked at The Starry Night by Van Gogh and then the kids made their own masterpieces and even named them. We had everything from "Sparkles" to the "The Dark of Darkness." That's pretty deep for a 4 year old!

Front Foyer Feature this month!

And for an idea I got on Pinterest... fruit loop crosses!

March Madness

What happened in March... well:

• We had friends over for a dessert party. I got to try a new butter tart bar recipe. Yum-o!
• I had a wonderfully relaxing March Break filled with shopping, Nick's first haircut, a visit to his old daycare, a couple of lunch dates, bottling wine and a trip to the dentist.
• We played Pandemic at G's house. And lost. And ate more butter tart bars.
• We travelled to Courtice for Miss Em's 5th birthday party.
• Nick started Soccer tots!
• I went to my first Pampered Chef party (followed by a dip in the hot tub!)
• I hosted Nick's playgroup with pals Cooper, Harrison and Lia.
• We bought a new light fixture and dining room set for the living room!
• We hosted Circelli's for Easter. This was the first holiday we hosted :)
