Water Project Party!

I love Nick's daycare!

They have been doing a unit all about water and yesterday was their project party. When we arrived, there was a documentation wall with pictures and write ups. Apparently Nicholas likes to fill shoes with water and then pour them out. He also likes to play with wet paper towels. One of his teachers also makes a learning cube for each of the kids.

I was worried that Nicholas would cling to us instead of playing with his friends. Boy was I wrong! He walked over, hugged us, and then went to play in the water with his pals. He would smile at us and wander around taking us on a "tour" of the outdoor space.

I am so impressed that the daycare is run like a school. They follow the interests of the children and take lots of pictures and write anecdotal comments to share with the parents.

Ps: I am back to work on Tuesday. Ahh!

I'm a little teapot

I love garage sales. I love finding great finds like this adorable little teapot. It makes one cup of tea. Any tea drinker will agree that a cup of tea from a pot just tastes better.

It cost me a dollar. Here is a photo of my little teapot next to my big mama tea pot. Just to put things into perspective.

On the topic of cute things... check out this adorable lunch bag that Nicholas got for his birthday from his pal Rachel. I think I love owls now.

Cupcake Smash

Yesterday we hosted Nicholas' birthday party and it was a hit! There were 17 adults and 9 kids under the age of 8. We had sunshine, burgers and cupcakes. Nicholas was spoiled with wonderful gifts and got to try his first cupcake. Nick has not always shown a lot of interest in sweets. We had his pal Rachel for lunch the weekend before and Nick wasn't thrilled with the Smore pie that we served. His birthday cupcake was a different story!

Thanks for coming everyone!

From 1 Month to 1 Year

Our Nicholas is One!

I got the idea from my sister-in-law to take a monthly photo of Nick. She helped this out by giving me some picky stickies as a gift. And as you can see from the following photos, I had a lot of fun with this. The monkey was a gift from Dan's co-workers.

Without further ado, here are the monkey photos from Month 1 to 12.

Happy Birthday Nicholas! I love you to the moon and back.

July, summed up.

One of my favourite blogs, Young House Love, does a sum up of everything they did or accomplished each month. I am going to attempt this after each month as well!

Here's our July in no particular order:
  • We re-did our deck
  • We shopped around for a van but have yet to actually buy one
  • We babysat a gal pal of Nick's (not quite 3 months old at the time)
  • We bottled a new batch of wine we made- Amarone (it turned out so well!)
  • We hosted a board game night with friends
  • We attended the annual Kitchener Ribfest
  • We attended the annual Serbian Food Festival
  • We bought Nick a big boy car seat
  • We went to the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory
  • We went for a picnic in Riverside Park
  • We went shopping in St. Jacobs
  • We had pie with friends to celebrate a birthday
  • We played lots of soccer
  • We did lots of BBQ'ing
  • We had lots of lunches out
  • We had a visit from the inlaws
  • We celebrated our 3rd anniversary
  • I went to see Magic Mike
  • Nicholas started daycare
  • A soccer friend became a Canadian citizen
  • I had a pedicure
  • We had a garage sale
  • I attended a bachelorette party
  • Nick stood solo many times

Whew! And July is supposed to be our quiet summer month!
