March Madness

What happened in March... well:
  • We had friends over for a dessert party. I got to try a new butter tart bar recipe. Yum-o!
  • I had a wonderfully relaxing March Break filled with shopping, Nick's first haircut, a visit to his old daycare, a couple of lunch dates, bottling wine and a trip to the dentist.
  • We played Pandemic at G's house. And lost. And ate more butter tart bars.
  • We travelled to Courtice for Miss Em's 5th birthday party.
  • Nick started Soccer tots!
  • I went to my first Pampered Chef party (followed by a dip in the hot tub!)
  • I hosted Nick's playgroup with pals Cooper, Harrison and Lia.
  • We bought a new light fixture and dining room set for the living room!
  • We hosted Circelli's for Easter. This was the first holiday we hosted :)

Surprise! We bought dining room furniture

We found an amazing deal on Kijiji and brought this beautiful set home. We ate dinner on it tonight with the G's. Our dining room is now complete!

What a drastic improvement. Our camera doesn't do it justice. We got the new light fixture at lowes.

Around the House

There's nothing major going on at our house after our living room renovation. We are still shopping around for light fixtures and dining room furniture.

It's amazing how much I enjoy little tweaks around the house. They are inexpensive and sometimes even have a function :)

Nick's "stuff" was taking over our fridge so we hung a bulletin board by our back door in the kitchen. Now everything is in one place. We can even hang some of his art masterpieces.

We have these candle holders on our mantle and I tend to change them up once a season. Pine cones in the Fall, clear cubes in the Winter, brown rocks in the Spring and blue and green pebbles in the Summer. However I decided that I wanted to try something different.

Yup. Wine corks. Better keep drinking...

Lastly, we had two small plants on our family room window ledge that had severely outgrown their pots. Dan took care of this transplanting project and he even picked out the new pots himself. I am impressed! The one on the left is a Kalanchoe and it was a gift from a student in June of 2011 and the one on the right is an African violet that Dan bought a while back. They look so much better!

What little (or not so little) things are you doing at your house?

Nick's 1st Haircut

Today's goal was taking Nick for his first haircut. I took him to Cookie Cutters in Waterloo and he did really well. He apparently didn't like the cape being put on so I gave him his soother and the rest was smooth sailing. They also have a play structure and various toys and movies to entertain little ones. Sonia put some hair gel in to make his hair look really curly so the pictures don't look drastic but she cut quite a lot off.

My little boy is growing up...

A look back at February

February was a much more enjoyable month! The weather was "wintery" and not raining or freezing cold.

  • We went to a friend's house and played Zombicide
  • We went to a kid-friendly Superbowl party and left long before half-time. LOL.
  • I joined Pinterest and I still wonder why it took me so long!
  • We had a crazy snow day with a car filling with snow, dying in a parking lot and then our furnace crapping out to boot.
  • We went to Kingston for the Baptism of our adorable Goddaughter Lia.
  • We met Tina and Mike in Toronto for a dinner at Lone Star. Brought back highschool memories of fajitas. Yum!
  • We renovated our living room with the help of my in-laws.
  • We had a lovely Valentine's dinner at The Chill.
  • I got a new phone for my V-day present.
  • Nick turned 18 months and went for his shots.
  • We installed a new toilet on the main level!
  • We had the G's over for dinner.
  • Went went for our monthly playdate at Harrison's house.
