Brightening Up The Hallway

We finally hung up the baby hat art that I made a while back. Nick was a great little helper and actually did some hammering for us. The funniest part was that Dan asked me where the 2nd frame was (the one for baby dill.) Umm not made yet? Lol!

Nick's brother will have one made for him and it will hang below this one.

I can't wait for all the trim in this house to be white but I better be patient as I don't see it happening anytime soon!!

A Pretty Little Range Hood

My in laws are here this weekend and we visited yesterday and went to St. Jacob's Market. Today "we" did a project. Our old range hood didn't work properly and was super noisy. So we replaced it. What a difference!

Baby boy first purchase

We are really set when it comes to clothes and toys for baby boy #2. But not everything can be a hand me down! I couldn't resist picking up a few of my favourite Pekkle pjs at Costco this morning.

A corner of a counter de-cluttered

I seriously think I may be nesting already. I have 19 weeks to go for goodness sake!

We have a lack of counter space in our kitchen. I love when I go into kitchens and the counter is pretty well empty but it's just not practical for us since our cupboards are also full. But I had a brainwave that I could put my canisters in the pantry since I only use them once in a while.

5 minutes later the corner by the fridge was already looking better.

And yes this is apparently exciting to me on a Friday night!

Q-tip Snowmen

This is the first mobile post I have done. We'll see how it goes! Our desktop computer is on the fritz. Sad day.

Today I tried another craft with my kindies that I pinned last year. Snowmen painted with Q-tips! I love how they turned out. See for yourself:

Me love Cookies!

Nicholas and I were home on a lovely Snow Day yesterday. I know how busy he is at school so I thought I would do a simple craft with him.

We made a Cookie Monster out of a small paper plate. All we did was cover the table a bit and I let him paint the plate with a foam paintbrush and non-toxic blue finger paint. It took several hours to dry and then I cut out eyes and a mouth and he taped them on.

He loves it!

I must have done a good job keeping him busy because he slept for 3 hours in the afternoon!

Big Boy Room Update

We are starting to transform Nick's room into a big boy room. We are actually leaving him where he is and the baby is getting the spare room. The only thing we had done (back in September) was add some book shelves which I mentioned in this post

I found a used white dresser online and we bought it. Good-bye change table! Eventually the change pad and diaper pail will leave but Nicholas is not so keen on toilet training.

March Break is going to be "big boy bed" switch week. We attempted to remove his soother this week and failed miserably. All in due time I suppose! I look forward to getting him some cute bedding and buying a bed rail.

Pinteresting Craft

I decided to get a little crafty today. And this idea I stole from Pinterest is oh so easy. And cute. I plan on doing the same for the next baby.

Materials needed:
  • Some sort of shadow box frame. I used one from the Ribba collection from IKEA.
  • Scrapbook paper. I scored this cute yellow and white polka dot page for 25 cents at Michaels!
  • Hot glue
  • Scissors
  • Plain white paper
  • Black thin sharpie (or any colour you choose)
  • Hospital hat
And voila! So cute! Now where should I hang it?

Brr... that was a quick December!

Let's look back on an action-packed month:
  • Illness continued to plague our house a bit. I got a double case of pink eye so we missed the monthly playdate. Nick also was feverish and achy. Thank-you daycare and Kindergarten!
  • We got our Christmas tree and finished decorating the house. I love these fun family traditions!
  • We went to the O'Leary Open House. Nick loved it! He's at the age where you don't have to follow him around all the time but you do have to try to keep his fingers out of the popcorn bowl!
  • I went to my staff Christmas party. It was nice to chill out after a crazy week at work.
  • I took Nick to see Santa. He was not a fan. He did better when Santa visited his school (with me holding him the whole time!)
  • We went to Wonders of Winter in Waterloo Park. We opted to take the horse and carriage ride since it was raining (as per usual). Nick didn't love the horses at first but then he wouldn't stop talking about them!
  •  I dined with two teaching friends at Marbles
  • We hosted a Christmas gathering for our friends and their kiddos. There ended up being 12 adults and 6 kids. It was perfect. This may become a tradition!
  • We travelled to Kingston for a wonderful Christmas. Nick was so much fun this year as everything from Santa to Christmas stories made him excited!
  • We celebrated New Years with our friends R&M and their son D. Munchies galore!

I hope everyone has a wonderful 2014! I am looking forward to our family growing half way through the year and my main resolution is to grow my nails.
